What is it about Italy that captivates the soul and stirs the imagination?

For as long as I can remember, visiting this enchanting country has been a dream—a dream fueled by tales of ancient ruins, timeless art, and a culture that blends history with modernity in the most captivating way.

I used to live in Europe and never had a chance to visit one country I always wanted to visit.  I’ve been to Spain, Portugal but never Italy.  Just didn’t have a chance.

And this year, that dream became a reality.

I took two weeks off from work and set out to explore four of Italy’s most magnificent cities: Rome, Florence, Venice, and Milan.

Each city, in its own way, left an indelible mark on me. If I were to sum up my impressions in a single word, it would be “fascinating.”

Italy was everything I had hoped for and more.

I know it comes from my touristy point of view, but nevertheless the lessons and learning gained was fat greater than just sitting on my desk reading the classics written about Italy.  That I can put my finger on it.

During my travels, I reflected on how each of the world’s great cities has its own unique identity.

Let’s say, Jerusalem where I often visited in my global operation days, felt like the spiritual capital of the world’s religions.

London, where I once lived, was steeped in political power.

Paris where I also studied in is, without a doubt, the heart of art.

The list goes on but, New York epitomizes capitalism, while Tokyo is a dynamic blend of ancient and modern Eastern-Western influences.

But Rome?

Rome is the capital of history—a city where the past and present coexist in a tapestry woven with stories of people, trade, and power.

Initially, I had planned to write a traditional travelogue, recounting my journey from start to finish.

However, as I reflected on my experiences, I realized that a linear narrative wouldn’t do justice to the richness of what I encountered.

Instead, I decided to share the moments that resonated with me the most—the sights, the experiences, the lessons that lingered long after I returned home.

This won’t be a typical travel report.

My writings will be more like snapshots of memories, presented in a way that captures the essence of what Italy meant to me.

One day, I might focus on the awe-inspiring architecture of Florence; another day, I might delve into the haunting beauty of Venice’s canals.

My goal is to convey what truly struck a chord with me and went onto live with me in my heart, rather than simply recounting the day-to-day details of my trip.

To kick things off, I’ll be sharing a collection of photographs taken during my travels.

These images capture moments that words alone cannot, offering a glimpse into the soul of Italy.

Stay tuned for more reflections and stories to come.

I hope you’ll join me on this journey through the heart of Italy.
