From Aomori, to the next destination, Iwate.

Morioka to be precise.

Here is another city of gourmet.  We were simply infatuated by food culture here.

So straight to photographs below as usual.

But before that, just to emphasise the beauty of Morioka, here’s a report from an expert.

TONO SHOKUNIKU CENTER

Lamb: Genghis Khan Mongolian BBQ

Morioka Reimen: naengmyeon
Kakigoori: Shaved ice
Morioka Reimen: naengmyeon by Pyonpyon-sha

Those noodles were actually served cold.

Never had this type of Ramen before… but so well matches with the summer season.

Head for Tohoku for the best gourmet experiences next time you are in Japan!

As I wrote in my Instagram post, we also stopped at the local poet Takuboku Ishikawa‘s former home when he was newly married, now a memorial home.

His poetry is well studied at schools when we were young.

Takuboku Ishikawa’s home at his newly-wed days.

Also check out the old cherry tree splitting the rock into half, another must-see in Morioka.

And finally Shinkansen back to Tokyo…!

Fully enjoyed it!

Hope you enjoyed the travel report, that’s all from Tohoku.

But please wait for the next trip we went on, next up was Kyushu, Yes the southern Japan!

Stay tuned!
