Just returned from my January trip, this time it was to Shimane prefecture.

There is this one shrine known to almost everyone in Japan, Izumo-Taisha

Known because this is considered the mother shrine of all gods in Japan.

Interesting right?

Here’s my understanding.

Once every year, the gods gather in this shrine for a sacred meeting.

During such meeting month, everywhere apart from Shimane is called “Kannazuki (godless month)” but in Shimane it is “Kamiarizuki (gods residing months)” since every gods will gather in this land.

I post some photographs I took and pictures should tell its beauty.

We also visited ADACHI MUSEUM OF ART known with its great gardens and Yokoyama Taikan art collection.

Yokoyama Taikan. the art-name of a major figure in pre-World War II Japanese painting.

He is one of the founding fathers of creating the modern Japanese painting technique of Nihonga.

Local business tycoon Adachi Zenko founded the museum and with his strong interest in resonance between the sublime sensibility of the Japanese-style garden and the paintings of Yokoyama Taikan.

Hence with vast area of beautiful Japanese gardens with also large collection of Yokoyama Taikan housed at the same museum.

I bought a few of postcards with Taikan’s paintings.

They are simplicity of Japanese art at its best.

Pictures should tell.

Postcards of Yokoyama Taikan’s paintings.

There was also another museum, history museum nearby too.

The Shimane Museum of Ancient Izumo

It preserves and displays an extensive collection of artifacts related to the history of Shimane Prefecture—particularly the region known as Izumo.

With many historical findings, ancient myths and stories, exhibited are the birth of this country Japan.

My conclusion:

There are just so much places to visit and to find out with Japan.

I encourage you do the same.
